Emerging artists forging careers in the growing Northern Ireland movie industry can benefit from new support offered through a special fund to help with training courses in prosthetics, prop and hair design for film.Titanic Creative Management launched The Movie House Cinemas Artist Fund during a unique sculpting course with Hollywood Creature Designer, Brian Wade, held in Belfast.
The Movie House bursary offers financial support for people working to build their careers in the film and television industry by accessing training at Titanic Creative Management taught by some of the top names in the industry.
The programme kicked off this week with two artists receiving support for TCM’s weeklong training session by Brian Wade, who has over 36 years of experience designing and creating characters and creatures and has worked on the hugely popular Stranger Things as well as Batman vs. Superman, Ender's Game, Van Helsing, Blade, The Blob, Stuart Little, The Terminator and John Carpenter's The Thing. With over 115 credits in some of the greatest film and TV projects of the past three and a half decades, Brian has solidified himself as a true industry legend.
"It is an honour to be approached by Titanic Creative Management to come to Belfast to teach Creature Sculpting. I have worked in Hollywood and across the world for over 30 years and I love the opportunity to teach the next generation of artists. It is great to see the film industry booming in Northern Ireland, it is also great to see Movie House Cinemas supporting emerging artists here to learn these skills, I can't wait to see what the students create with us this week," Mr Wade said.
Over the course of the year, the Movie House Cinemas Artist Fund will support ten up and coming artists who demonstrate a clear passion for make-up and prop making for film. The local independent cinema company has been working with Titanic Creative Management, a social enterprise offering this high quality specialised training, over the past two years.
Students can also apply now for upcoming courses including Richard Martin’s Hyper Real Painting and Brian Kinney’s Script to Screen – both in June - and Stuart Bray’s Mould Making Week in September.
