DIRECTOR Sean S Cunningham has spent most of his film career delivering the cult horror movies that leave cinemas strewn with popcorn and overcome with teenage screams. 
But the man who brought gruesome slasher movies to the big screen is first to admit he knew little about death and dying, and after a chance meeting with Michelle Lasota, a Philadelphia Hospice Nurse, he was inspired to make a film about her work and addressing a conversation most people find difficult to hold.
The Nurse With The Purple Hair is a warm and inspiring documentary about end-of-life care. The 45-minute film honours hospice professionals and the mind-body-spirit services they provide – and Sean and Michelle will launch the film at the Movie House Cinema on Belfast’s Dublin Road on March 29 (7pm).
